Bio: Thomas was the second child of that name that his parents had baptised. Presumably the first Thomas died in infancy. On the 1841 Census, The Jobsons (or Jopsons) were living in Burton End, close to some of the Whiting families. Thomas' father was a silk weaver, and he had an elder brother George, a young brother Henry and a younger sister Sarah.

Thomas is a visitor of Harriet Whiting on the 1851 census, but six years later he is to marry her cousin Lydia. See Lydia Whiting for further information on Thomas' life.
