Bio: Ann Whiting was the eldest surviving child of Robert Whiting and Mary Hazlewood and was baptised at St Mary's Church, Haverhill, on 10th November 1777. Ann would have been in her teens by the time her parents moved from Haverhill to Woolwich, but she elected to go with them.

Ann married Edward Smith on 12th December 1797 at St Mary Magdalene, Woolwich, by banns (2). They had a number of children baptised at St Mary Magdalene, Woolwich, whose d.o.b's are entered alongside baptism dates in the church register. Ann and Edward were witnesses at Ann's younger sister Ruth's marriage in 1806.

Ann died aged 38 in Church Street, Woolwich, and was buried on 11th March 1815 at St Mary Magdalene Church, Woolwich(3)

It seems likely that her husband was the Edward Smith, widower, who married Mary Manning, widow, on 31st December 1815 at St Mary Magdalene, Woolwich(4).
