Bio: A birth registration entry has not been found for Ellen, although a baptism entry from St Mary's church, Haverhill, gives her birth date. Ellen is on the 1851 census living with her parents and siblings in Burton End, Haverhill, and again on the 1861 census - this time working as a silk winder. It seems she had a son Harry, born out of wedlock, in 1861. He appears on the 1861 census as her parents child, but there is no further mention of him anywhere as a Whiting. He is to appear on later censuses as Harry Whybrow, although there is no mention of a Harry Whybrow born at this time in the GRO registers.

The next year she married George Whybrow, a weaver, and they appear on the 1871 census living in Burton End nextdoor to William Whiting and family. They have three children, Harry, Thomas and David and they are both working as silk weavers. By the census of 1881, the family include the sons plus three girls, Rachel, Ellen and Celia. Harry is working as an Agricultural labourer, Thomas as a brewers labourer, and David as a Farmer's labourer. Ellen and George still work as silk weavers. The 1891 census finds them at 41 Burton End, with the sons now having all left home. The eldest daughter, Ellen, is a trouser maker, and the youngest two Celia and Jane are scholars. George works as a silk weaver, but Ellen this time is not listed as such. Perhaps her health had taken a turn for the worse? Next year in October 1892 she was to die, and was buried in Haverhill Cemetery.
