Bio: Eliza is listed as being born in the Poor House on the 2nd June 1841(1) in the parish baptismal register, however the GRO birth register places her birthdate as being in the 3rd Quarter of 1840(2) which is supported by the 1841 census which shows her age as 10 months. Eliza is present on the 1851 census living in Burton End with her parents and siblings.

She emmigrated to South Australia with her family in 1852 aboard the China and arrived there on 12th November.(for details of the Journey see Thomas Whiting)

Eliza married Arthur Raper, a stationhand, and lived with him in Goodwood and Mount Lyndhurst Station. They never had children, and Eliza's death certificate reveals she died as a result of fits she's been having for 25 years.(3) Her place of burial is not known, but is most likely in Mount Lyndhurst Station.
