Bio: Elizabeth is listed as being born in the Clements on the 11th March 1851(1) in the parish baptismal register, however the GRO birth register places her birthdate as being in the 3rd Quarter of 1850(2) which is supported by the 1851 census which shows her age as 6 months. She is present on this census living with her family in Burton End, Haverhill. Elizabeth emmigrated to South Australia with her family in 1852 aboard the China and arrived there on 12th November.(for details of the Journey see Thomas Whiting)

She married Alexander Wyly, a storekeeper, who was originally from Ireland and had emmigrated from Dublin with his family aboard the Lorema in the same year as Elizabeth's voyage from England. They went on to have 12 children together, most of whom lived to old age. Elizabeth and Alexander lived in various locations in the Adelaide district of South Australia. She eventually died of Morbis Brightic Stenosis at Wright street, Grey Ward, Mount Lofty on 10th July 1898.(4)

Her death is reported in the Adelaide Advertiser: 'On the 10th July, at "Montague House", 3, Wright Street, of Bright's disease and enlargement of the heart, Ellizabeth, the dearly beloved wife of Alexander Wyly, of "The Walnuts", Mount Lofty, aged 48.'(5)
