Bio: Susannah was born in Burton End, Haverhill, in 1831, and appears on the 1841 census living there with older siblings John, Rhoda and Edward. It is not clear what has happened to their parents - presumably they are both dead? On the next census, in 1851, Susannah is a domestic servant in the household of Philip Cross, a farmer of 170 acres, living at Hazel Stub Farm in Burton End. She was to marry Daniel three years later, and lived with him until his death in 1881.(see Daniel's page for their life together). On the 1891 census there is a Susan Whiting, widow, living next to Henry Whiting at 23 Burton End. Her age is given as 66, which is about six years out, but it would make sense as she and Daniel were living nextdoor to Henry on the previous census. She has a widower, John Kiddy, 70, living with her, and two lodgers, George Barber and Joseph Poole. Susannah doesn't seem to appear on further censuses and there is a Susan Whiting, widow, who is buried at Haverhill Cemetery in 1897. Her abode is given as 23 Burton End(6) which matches up with the 1891 census entry.
