Bio: The 1851 census shows Mary as having been born in Helions Bumpstead, Essex in around 1823. She was a widow when she was married to Thomas Whiting in 1848. In the marriage entry in the register of St Mary's, Haverhill, her father is shown as Thomas Mead, a weaver. As her surname is Webb at this time, we can assume this was her late husbands name. Unfortunately, as yet I have been unable to trace her first husband's identity or her father's origins, or whether she had children from previous relationships.

The year after the census Mary, Thomas, and her two step-children children Sophia and Henry emmigrated to South Australia (see Thomas Whiting). After this, details of what happened to Mary are less clear. I presume that she and her husband died in Australia, but I have been unable to confirm this.
